Radiola - 1948 by TwoPynts

Some of you may know that I photograph a coworker's collection of vintage tube radios (that he restores) from time to time. When he brought this one in to work I knew it was special. It looks pretty good for a 58 year old radio, eh? And it works! This is a tough one to find on the web, even at the vintage radio websites. I photographed it in the light tent in the usual manner and was really please to see the soft glow that suffused the whole image when I opened it in Photoshop. It was suggested that I change the background to give it more contrast, but I feel that the image works as a cohesive whole as is. Aaah...enough Stridesberging, thanks for stopping by. You can see the other radio in my gallery here: Little Jewel - 1945 ----- * RADIOLA * - RCA, Radio Corp. of America (later RCA Victor Co. Inc.) - Model: 762X12 - Chassis: Plastic

beautifull old thing! Radiola is the cheap mark of philips! A museum piece , like me : I am from 49!!!
The lighting is wonderful and warm! Harkens back to a simpler time, when people sat in their living rooms and listened to music, or huddled around it anxiously awaiting "Breaking news", or an exciting radio show. And it still works! Very cool Kort!
Very nostalgic! This art deco look has definitely returned in a big way. Nothing is new under the sun, after all. Except maybe what we see here on Renderosity. Nice retro composition!
That's one clean machine ~ i like the white-on-white look, classy like the radio.
Oooooh!!!! My dad turns 58 this year...and let me tell you. And he doesnt seem to be in half a good a shape as this radio, lol. Very classy product-shot, with a perfectly balanced frame. Have a great day Kort!!!!! #:O) MAS4eva!!!
ooo.. fantastic radio... a good invention.. ;) well done
I love these old radios! Since I cannot afford the real thing, I bought a cathedral style repro from http://www.crosleyradio.com/ recently. One of these days I will get an art deco style such as this one. ;o)
love the peach-creamy colour scheem + the marilyn quote - amazing how v ordinary object are seen differently as soon as they become 'antiques'
Obviously, this was a "designer" set back then, though I don't think they used that word. It is a beautiful job of restoration and your photography is superb.
It is only 8 years younger as me but looks marvellously... a wonderful nostalgic impression!
wow, looks fantastic, excellently done!!!! :=)
Excellent photo. That radio looks like it's brand new.

Great !!!! It was a great radio, and with a design incredible ! So lovely shot ! Delmur a piece of Museum ???? Lol ! he is too young !!!! 1948, Giancarlo was born in 48 as your radio ! They were really very lovely. My father has the same of this one when I was a little girl, but not this color, something like orange or red. Superb ! Thank you for this one ;o)))) Have a nice evening. Hugs V
Fantastic shot and presentation. What a beautiful and nostalgic piece. Superb!!!
Ha ha ha, Stridsberging is the new word! Wonderful capture of this old Radiola looking so intact! You shot it just as if it could be put in an advertorial to sell it as new! Excellent work, Kort!
OH GOOD YOU PUT IT UP!! I LOVE THIS CREAMY VANILLA old radio!! it really grabs my full attention!!... wonderfully done!!
super macro and radio was the only thing we had for entertainment when I was a kid. I converted an Admiral to pickup shortwave signals and as I listened to the world I dreamed about how those places must look
Brings back the good ole days when radio was as much a source of entertainment as the TV..great capture of a slice of history.
Beautiful capture of this wonderful collectors item! :0)
I had one of those:):):)...V
Hey! Its my year....lol. The radio looks to be in better shape than I am. It does bring back memories. Excellent. Aloha
Man you were on the verge of Stridesberging, but reeled it in just in time...But I probably couldn't cut it short with and image like this one...fit for a magazine cover!! You are so right to leave it like it was shot...man that's just so kewl! Aloha! MAS4EVA
Cannot believe how this looks touchable. Light set up sure worked. The other thing I am so impressed on is how well horizontal you got it. Lines up near dead level.
