with his manual camera Canon F1

This is one of the favorite photographies of Giancarlo, and also one of the place he loved.
He was here earlier in the morning to have this beautiful moody atmosphere.
It's a forest call "BOSCO FONTANA" near Mantova.
Located in the territory of Marmirolo, 5 kilometres from the town centre, it extends over an area of 233 hectares, all what is left of the large forests that once covered the whole Padana Valley. Long, straight paths cross each other giving shape to circular clearings and make easier the walk into the very thick wood. Fast in the middle, stands a 17th century small castle built by orders of Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga.
Near the castle there is the source that gave the name to the wood: the "Fontana", which is attested since the 12th century, when the Gonzaga family, not yet ruler of Mantua, acquired this land.
The wood is today property of the State domain, since 1976 is a Natural Oriented Biogenetic Reserve.
