Description

In the heart of the Church, the most impressive part of the ruins (100 yards long, nave vaults reaching up to 70 feet) The construction of the abbey church began in 1197, in Romanesque style. Later, around from 1210 on, and in successive phases until 1267, the more graceful and luminous Gothic style was used, whilst maintaining a discipline and restraint of decoration characteristic of the Cistercian aesthetics. The Church was one of the first buildings in Gothic style and structure in our regions. One of the interesting features of the church is the repeated use of oculi (circular bays) combined with lancet windows, making the choir a unique construction of its kind. For Nathalie

Fantastic and mystic shot Michel ! And your shots are perfect as they are... To could see a sky like this one, with the clouds, and the light inside the Abbey.... hummmmm so lovely. Mines were "burned" by the light and wasn't as good as yours, that's because I had to made the postwork I've done... I'm really happy to see yours in your gallery, after to have seen them with you on your computer ;o)))) Have a great day. Hugsssssssssssss ! V
