Description
This is for another short animation: "The Sentinel"...a character posted to the utmost edge of the Universe. Look over your shoulder, and there are stars. Look directly ahead: nothing. He's half-human/half-machine. A rebuilt war casualty. He has only one function: watch for the enemy in his sector. He presides over a small installation with semi-sentient, non-talking machines, and has a large, good-natured herbivore for transportation on which to make his rounds to check the monitoring machinery. The Space Hutch is where he lives when not on duty.
He agonizes constantly over whether any of this makes any sense or does any good. Has headquarters forgotten him? Is the War over? Did we win...or lose? In the end, he always pychs himself up and concludes that everything is allright, and that someday he will sound the alarm and be a hero. But his resolve always founders when he remembers: "Why don't I ever get any mail?"
