I have always liked 'llIustration' and tend to produce it either as Cover Art or Sequential imagery. The former is probably the more challenging because of the balance that needs to be struck between form and content, decoration and narrative. Cover Art, like the short story, gets a limited shot at indicating what lies beneath the cover. My current preoccupation has been described, and I think aptly, as 'nostalgic sci fi and pulp'. And someone also suggested that it might be a little too late to revive the 'adventure genre'.
Stylistically, I'm keen on the commercial illustration of the mid 20th Century that was made to promote 'mass' publication (especially children's annuals, pulp magazines and comics). There is so much creativity and artistic competence to found on the covers and within the pages of even the most mundane examples.
It is over the last 7 years that I have started to use, and like, digital media. My working methods are still a little too intuitive and involve the usual squinting and standing back that one associates with traditional media, but I am enjoying making imagery more than ever and would now like to explore the possibilities of illustrating written stories (preferably by working with an author).

Another great entry in your gallery! I like the unified color scheme you chose for the primary image. It is complemented nicely by the brick red of the cover elements. I also like the wet sheen you achieved on the creature. My one concern is the composition. Although it's suitably static and appropriate for a cover of this time, I can't help but feeling I'd like to see more of her expression to help me gauge the emotional tone of the piece. Without her expression or a stronger use of body language, she seems almost uninterested in her own fate. Also, the tail interferes with us getting a clear shot of her breast (and you KNOW I'd like to see more of her breast ;-). I suspect that removing that tail would strengthen the composition by helping us more easily differentiate between the two principle figures. Also, consider lightening up on the skull in the foreground. I almost didnt see it there at first glance. This element definitely would help set the emotional tone. Hmmm. Looking at it closer, Im even more taken by your restraint in the background. Whereas many (including me) would have overdone the use of fog/mist, you resisted the urge and really helped pull our eyes to the creature and the woman. I really like that. You should do a tutorial on making the "wear and tare" look so realistic. I'd almost believe that I really was looking at a pulp magazine from the 30's. Very nice work!

This is excellent! Personally, I would not change a thing. I can take the entire scene in a single glance, and from there my gaze can easily drift around the scene to pick out more subtitle details.
