Description
Ziggy played guitar, jammin' good with Weird and Gilly,
The spiders from Mars, he played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band
Ziggy really sang, screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo
Like some cat from Japan, he could lick 'em by smiling
Ziggy played for time, jiving us that we was voodoo
The kids was just crass. He was the nazz
He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar
--excerpts of lyrics from Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie
"People put you in a box for convenience's sake, to get around having to try and figure you out as an individual."
--Nitin Sawhney
"The creative individual has the capacity to free himself from the web of social pressures in which the rest of us are caught. He is capable of questioning the assumptions that the rest of us accept. "
--John Gardner
"Today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way. "
-- Dr Seuss
Do you know someone who moves to the beat of a different drummer? Are you like that? My son Connor definitely does. Heck, he moves to the beat of his own set of bongos! I took this playful portrait of him while we were waiting at the VW dealership for my car to be serviced. He has an enthusiasm for life that I wish I could tap into and bottle...I'd sell millions.
Connor is 5 and just started Kindergarten. His free spirit and inquisitive ways are causing him to have a tough time adapting to the regimentation of school, but I know that he'll find his niche eventually and go on to do some amazing things. So this photo is for you Connor. Hang in there buddy, I know you can do it. Never loose the spark of individuality that makes you who you are!
=o]

If schools could only learn how to harvest and nurture a child that see things differently, we would not have one da Vinci, but thousands.
