Description
The water is wide,I cannot cross o'er
And neither have I wings to fly
Build me a boat, that can carry two
And both shall row my love and I.
There is a ship, and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I'm in
I know not how I sink or swim.
Oh love is handsome and love is fine
The sweetest flower when first it's new
But love grows old,and waxes cold
And fades away like morning dew.
The water is wide,I cannot cross o'er
And neither have I wings to fly
Build me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row my love and I.
And both shall row
My love and I.
Traditional folk song origins unknown
This is my all-time favorite song.It has been sung by countless performers, from James Taylor to Charlotte Church. My favorite is by Karla Bonoff.I thought this little pic of a house on a cliff over-looking the tiny hamlet of Pennan,Scotland was just perfect for it.
Hope you like.Have a great day/evening/good night's sleep!See ya!-Marlene :)

To say that I like this greatly would be a poor use of English, or any other language for that matter. It is unfortunate that I am at a loss of words when an image and commentary take my breath away. Simply magnificent!

I love the contrast of the two prominent green shades against the red cliffside. You set this up perfectly to frame the cottage "nestled in." Amazing scale to the shot, but the heavy border keeps it nicely contained for the eye.

eh, dear Marlene that is a superb song and I sure have it, already! Egmont has a great sense of settings, so he sees a lot of the unseens..:D anyway, I love the loneliness of the house captured in the scene...a beaut for sure!

Bravo! Now who would live there in that house. A good capture to make one think not only of the song, but the way of life on a hill such as this.Gets my vote.

Oh...I haven't heard that song in awhile. I think I sang it for a wedding LOOONG ago. "sigh" I think I see what Egmont sees ~ since in my mind this could be the setting for a tragic romance. Very wonderful Marlene... and so touching. Faves & VOTE!! :0)
