Subject: Stuck fingers

ChromeStar ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2026 at 11:24 PM Β· edited Sat, 24 October 2026 at 12:58 AM

I have a Victoria4 figure who can't move her middle or ring fingers on either hand. Index and pinky fingers are fine. I can dial in values for the middle and ring finger (all three segments), bend, twist, side to side, but they don't move. They aren't locked.

What should I be checking? Hidden parameters, something in the .pz3? Have not run into this before.

Maybe check your parameter settings. Does the grasp morph work?

The accepted values when dialing any morph may also be kind-of locked by setting the same value in  the Min Limit and Max Limit in the said morph''s settings

on Vic4 characters, I've often seen this way to lock eyes in place (x, y and z params)

The limits look normal (e.g., -70 to 35), and I think if that was the issue it wouldn't let me dial in a different value anyway? I can change the value, just nothing happens.

The grasp and spread morphs work normally for the index and pinky fingers, but the mid and ring fingers remain frozen no matter what I do with them.

In case it's relevant, this is Victoria 4.2 with all the V4 and A4 morphs plus a half-dozen creature creator morphs (which I am suspicious might be part of the cause).

I wonder if Poser's "Copy Morphs From" could arrange things, let's with the original Vic4.2 source?
Make a backup  before, just in case...

I ended up re-doing the figure. Save all the morphs and poses and textures, reload in a new pz3. This time it worked. I omitted a couple of unneeded morphs, I don't know if that was the issue.

Fortunately I was building the character in a blank pz3 and not in the existing scene.

That's the way I build complex scene, too. Well done 👍
