The Genesis 9 conversion packs are now done. Female just hit the store, and Male will be coming soon. Zombies in da house!

As always when creating the renders for the various texture transfers, I try to select characters with detail across the whole body so that you can get a better idea of how the textures convert from one figure to another. The texture transformer kits allow you to transfer any G9 Male or Female texture to V4/M4 and all other Genesis figures.

I've received a couple of PM's about the Genesis 9 conversion packs, so am writing this for clarification.

The Genesis 9 figures are different than the others in the way they are constructed. There is a base layer that contains only the skin, and then there are sublayers for the other body parts. So initially what you get when you transfer are the skin parts (head, torso, arms, and legs) and the eyes and mouth parts, etc do not get transferred.

Additionally, according to the manual, if the materials are more advanced, you have to pre-configure them for Blacksmith 3D/Texture transformer;

"Regarding importing material channels, all of Blacksmith3D's material channel types are supported ( color, bump, transparency, etc. ) providing that simple image_map channels are used when created in Poser. Complex shader trees with multiple nodes are not directly supported, so you will have to import the images manually into Blacksmith3D and assign them to the correct materials and channels for them to be edited properly."

Please note that these issues are not a fault of the conversion packs themselves. They are currently limitations of Blacksmith 3D/Texture Transformer itself.

To get around the geometry in separate layers, I loaded the Genesis 9 mesh into Modo, and merged the sublayers back into the base layer so that all parts were in one layer instead of four separate layers.

Once you get the layers combined into a single layer, you can import that base object into DAZ Studio or Poser, and apply an all-white texture to it. Then you'd need to create shader/material presets for each type of texture map you want to convert. For example, for the first MC6 file, apply all of the Color maps to each material zone, and save that as a DAZ Studio shader preset (DUF) or Poser mateiral preset (MC6). Create another one that has only Normal textures. And then another one that contains Roughness textures, and so on.

Then add each of the material preset files into the texture ttransformer source screen.

Texture Transformer will then be able to convert the other maps, one type at a time.

May I asked you for a question

Would you added Dawn And Dusk in texture transformer?

I would love to see dawn and dusk using a convert all of versions of genesis (Genesis 9) skins ☺️

As far as I remember, Dawn was already included in the TextureTransformer. She can swap her textures 1-to-1 with Dusk. Check your overview to see if you can find that package.

If she’s not included, there’s already a separate package specifically for that, which I have as well:  https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/169959/texture-transformer-legacy-add-on

hm .. a Pack from La Femme/ L Homme  to V4/ M4  would be really cool :) So we could use the other packs to transfer the textures to Paul, Dawn, Dusk and Pauline and Roxie

Unless I see more interest in the sets that are already out there, I can't justify doing all the work involved for lesser used figures. I'm sorry.

oh ... hm... I see...

hm.... how much would it cost as committed work? Only one Set La Femme to V4? :) ... ehm.... I ask for a friend ... LOL  XD

only the basic... head, torso limbs?

The bulk of the work is in shrink-wrapping one figure over another. That is basically going to be the same amount of time whether there is one conversion or several.

My reply was in regards to Dawn and Dusk, which I haven't yet done the shrink wrapping for. It would be a couple of weeks work minimum to shrink wrap and test the transfers for those, so it's doubtful I will tackle those. They really aren't moving as well as I expected, sad to say.

I already have La Femme and L'Homme 1 and 2 done so they are already in the pipeline.

With the existing packs, converting from G8 to V4 to Dawn would actually already be possible. You’d just have to take the detour via V4 and would need the Legacy Pack :)

OOOOH! I’m absolutely thrilled that something is already in the works for LaFemme and L'Homme :) That makes me really happy. :D Renderosity really ought to hire you to do all this. After all, you’re making their main Poser figures significantly more versatile... at least in terms of textures. :)
