Generic DAZ Studio Smart+/PropGoto+ Release 3 BETA Is Now Available

This is a BETA - feedback is very much appreciated.

Must be installed OVER release 2 as it ONLY contains the updated ‘GenericPropGotoPlus.dsa’ script, plus the same ‘SmartPlusData.txt’ as the Poser r3beta.

There are NO helper scripts to add your own props yet as I’m still working on those - they’ll be uploaded separately asap. But if you have any of these props…

... then r3beta will let you put them directly into either hand of around 78 different figures.

All you do is select the prop, AND select the figure you want to have the prop, and the click (double-click?) the ‘PropGoto+ DS’ icon, as per the screenshot. You should get a dialogue asking you to confirm the auto-match for the prop. Then it's the usual figure confirmation dialogue, et voila !

These will let you easily get the data you need to add additional props to the Smart+ datafile.
Remember that it’s a beta - there’s not much explanation in the readme, but if I’ve done it right it should be fairly easy to follow…

Support data for Genesis 2 Male, Dusk, and Andy2 (MilkMan Andy) added - see "Smart+/PropGoto+ List Of Supported Figures " on the DAZ Freepozitory forum for more info.

Thanks! I was really surprised at how quickly the basics of release 3 (which is basically going to be far better support for ordinary props) came together. I released a beta version of release 3 just in case anybody was interested enough to play with it. The small amount of feedback I've received (but more than I'd expected!  :) ) has been very useful.

I'm posting mainly on the equivalent DAZ forum thread (since I can edit posts without a time limit there, and other problems with the Renderosity forums are really annoying me). Only really posting news of new uploads here now.

I'm probably going to be offline for a day or two, and then I'll only have intermittent internet access for a few weeks. I also want to take a break from sitting in front of the computer. So I don't expect much more progress on this till the latter half of next month.

(Hopefully offloading this Smart+ from my concious mind for a while should allow my subconcious to get to work on it...  :)

The Smart+ Props Stuff Release 3 Core (Poser and DAZ Studio versions) Was Released A Couple Of Months Ago

However, a couple of weeks ago I decided to delete all my freebies from Renderosity FreeStuff, and I no longer upload freebies here. After deleting them all I re-uploaded just one so that my FreeStuff page here would serve as a reminder of what's gone.

If you're interested in following this ongoing project further then you need to check the "Wouldn't It Be Nice If SmartProps Worked With More Than Just One Figure..." thread in the DAZ Freebies forum, as that has all the background information and cross-links to ShareCG (it used to have cross-links to Renderosity too...)

Unfortunately it's against the Terms Of Service here to give the actual link/URL - but just google the title of that DAZ thread and you should find it.

I may make further posts to this thread, but please don't rely on me doing so.

N.B. The older posts in this thread contain many relevant, appropriate, and helpful external links to two of Renderosity's 'competitor' sites, namely DAZ3D and ShareCG (note that the links to downloads in Renderosity FreeStuff no longer work as I removed all my freebies)

I therefore fully expect this thread to be locked in the near future as these are in clear breach of the new Terms Of Service (bottom of any page, About > Terms Of Service) which says...

"...Renderosity's Mission is to create a thriving, productive environment that encourages an atmosphere of community, respect, collaboration, and growth for graphic artists of all backgrounds..."

...whoops! No, not that bit, further down... last paragraph in the 'Members/Users will not use this community for:' section, just before the 'Site Areas - Galleries, Forums, Homepages, Blogs, etc:' section...

"...Additionally, offsite linking to other marketplaces or freestuff sites are not allowed within the forum, gallery, or forum signatures. For example: Links to competing stores like Daz3d.com, RuntimeDNA.com, etc are not allowed. However, links to non-competing stores like Etsy.com or Ebay.com are acceptable...."

Once again I think I was in an irritable state of mind when I posted that last comment.

I've now started a separate "Offsite links that were legal (or at least tolerated) when they were posted" thread in the Community Center to try and understand exactly what's going on regarding links in older threads/posts and the locking of threads.

I now intend to use this current "Wouldn't It Be Nice If SmartProps Worked With More Than Just One Figure..." thread as a sort of test bed.
