Here's what I needed that crazy treasure chest for!

This is my version of an image that was originally done by another Renderosity member, Sailor Ed!  Sailor Ed posted his (THE original) version of this image in a Carrara contest about five years ago.

You can go and see his contest entry in the Carrara archived contests (look for the contest for underwater).

His image really struck me as an amazing stroke of creativity and humor and I've never forgotten that particular render.  I went to find it in the gallery and I could not locate it.  I knew it was in the contests which is the only place I could find it.  I don't believe that Sailor Ed posted this in the galleries (formally so to speak).  I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try to do it myself and to see what I could cook up using the latest version of C.

There ins't really anything magic in this image that a newer version of C can do except for the rocks in the bottom of the tank.  Those rocks all happened via my new favorite tool, the replicator.

The bubbles were done with a particle fountain.  I did add an air stone and hose because I thought it was a tweeny weird to have bubbles without a source.  The background is a blurred picture of a bookcase in my apartment.

So, thank you Sailor Ed for such a great image.  Please accept my humble version of it.  My re-render of this image comes out of my respect and joy of the original!

I tweaked this some more.  I'm going to post it in the gallery.  I put a displacement into the water to give it some waves and I upgraded the leaves a little bit.

This crazy project turned out to be a kind of nightmare.  There is a TON of transparency in the thing and I just could not stop fooling with details!  I had to redo the string, then I had to redo the textures on the ring holders, then I had to redo the size of the rocks, add the air stone, re-modeled the grass, then re-textured the grass (twice), re-did the lable on the food, resized the hook (twice), played with the water surface texture three times!!!

I'm done.

The posting in the gallery will have most of the text I posted in this thread given Sailor Ed deserves his credit.
