Neat work so far, even though I don't do my modeling in Carrara (points at sig) and only use it for rendering, it's still cool to see how it goes. Even when not starting from scratch, these things take a lot of work to get right, don't they? Getting the model right can be hard though, as not everyone has a physical model to reference or section or good plan drawings. Going from photographs can introduce perspective distortion, which can cause further problems when people aren't aware of it. (Probably explains the flaws in some of the other models you looked at while researching.)
As for your models current stage, It'll be neat to see how those little details get worked out.
BTW, if you've done any Flash, I'd suggest having a rotation as a sequenced .TGA and putting it into a movieclip scripted for mouse movement. It's a neat way of presenting it other than video. Then you could make a basic interactive image a user could turn around. (Sorry about the compression & lack of preloader, but my example is just some proof-of-concept thing I was playing with.)
