Hi.

I am kindof asking for your opnions on something.   am currently trying to ea renod to complete, but  am aving soe poblems with the air ofe model.  I am using V4.2 with the Maile characer morph and exures, wih one sunlight source, and the C6 realistic sky system.  have tried several different hair packages ut it always takes a long long time to render.  I let it run all last night, but it hung up on the hair again.  I have tried Trix Hair, Erica Hair, Destiny Hair, Glorious Hair, Natural Hair 2 and a few others.  I am currently trying to get Summer hair to work. They always take forever or just bomb.  I have tried completely recreating the scene as well.  Also one funny bit.  Under the hair I sometimes get these blocky black spots on the render.  These spots also seem to appear on other objects in the scene.

Can you post some render? I used a lot of hair in my renders with GI, HDRI and have no problem.

I just did a render with Destiny hair - didn't have any problems and rendered fast. Can you post your settings when you post your renders?

I did a destiny hair render this weekend with 5 actors and lots of props with realistic sky, skylight, and indirect lighting.
It took 2 hours to render at 300 dpi, 4 hours with best anti-alias added on. With the hair turned off it was not significantly faster. So, it isn't a bug with the hair per se, but the hair has transparency which often is demanding on renders.
a)What dpi are you asking for?
b)What are the shader settings on the hair? Is the transparency properly in the alpha subshader? The transparency channel below should be set to "none". I once set it to some value and DISASTER! The machine really choked.
If this is a still, there might be a workaround of doing a bald render, then adding the hair done separately (assuming it renders in a smaller, less taxing scene).

I usually render at standard wide screen wallpaper resolution of 1680x1050 at 100DPI.  The render is going to be a showcase render for a model submarine I just finished.   Not a lot to it.  One infinite Plain for the ocean, one terrain for an island using built in C6 textures, the sub, the model, hair, outfit and shows.  Only one light source, a sun light, and realistic sky.  It just took over an hour just to do a spot render of the head and hair.

Make sure you don't have soft shadows on - that can add a lot to render time.

I do normally use soft shadows for full quality renders.  But that usually doesn't add this much to the render time.
