Hi folks. Hope you all had a good week.
I am having a strange problem I have never run into before. I am working on part 2 of my Shoreside Structures collection, which is going to be a seaside victorian era hotel. I am constructing the hotel in a modular way so anyone who purchases it can modify, enlarge, or change it in any way with a minimum of effort. I have constructed a number of wall modules for it using model windows and doors I created for it. There are like 4 single window styles, 4 double window styles, 4 exterior single door styles, 4 exterior double door styles and a couple of indoor styles. Now the problem I am having is that once I create a wall module; if I try to duplicate it, Carrara creates a whole new instance of the shaders used in that module. Now if I have a wall segment, which has three single sized windows, each window with a set of brass handles and latches, and each component of those latches using a Brass shader, there are 6 instances of the Brass shader created. Now if I duplicate or copy and paste that module once, suddenly there are 12 instances, etc... I have a few hundred instances of each shader which is making the model unworkable. Is there a way to force Carrara to only use a single instance of the shaders for each of the objects that require that shader? I really don't want to have to zap the model, I have been working on it over a week and thats a lot of work to waste. Any ideas appreciated.
Rich.
