I was wondering if anyone wanted to play around with taking a basic model of an unofficial sea monster (or dinosaur) and creating something original - I've posted a base model (free to use) as a starter. I'm working on a project and thought it would be fun to see what others came up with - unlike an open-ended contest ( i.e. a winter scene, or halloween image ) this is a bit more specific. Here are two links to sites with sea-dwelling dinosaurs. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/seamonsters/index.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/prehistoric_life/dinosaurs/seamonsters/ The model I've uploaded is in .txt format, just rename it to .car for Carrara - it is very humble, doesn't even have chompers yet. On the bbc site, the creature I loosely copied was the Liopleurodon. Thanks - hope I hook a few of you to participate. Robert

Ahhh, maybe is a file created with C6 or C5? I'm still on C4...

Yes, c6 - better to send an .obj file? I give that a try. Just can't get it small enough - sorry. I'll try opening it in C4 at home and saving it there.

Here is the base model with a little more work. It really doesn't look anything like a Liopleurodon, at least not from other artists' and experts' renders - an it doesn't look like Barney either.

p.s. they were actually reptiles. they apparently preyed on other reptiles and fish. it's not clear at this point if there were any aquatic dinosaurs for them to eat, but in a BBC series one of them was shown grabbing a dinosaur off a reef. probly never happened, but it made a good animation.

That's what my wife said... I was going for a scary dinosaur - fish eating hunter of the shallow seas - cute? I guess it looks more like a baby nessy, than a killer seacreature... Here it is with a texture map -
