Subject: Has anyone got an intel mac?

what's the UB version of carrara like? Can more poser people be added to a scene without getting memory allocation errors on rendering? Is the native poser importer any faster to pose with using a mil figure? Love esther

I had one (Macbook) but just sold it. (I really didnt notice much difference off hand compared to my g5 iMac. It could have been that i only had 512 ram in it opposed to the gig in my iMac. Are you thinking of getting one? E PS. What mac are you on thats giving you errors?

Hi, I've got a G5 2.7 dual with 5 gig of ram, but when I tried to make a classroom scene with lots of students (mil people) and then I added an apollo I started to have huge rendering problems with crashes. The apollo seemed to have been the last straw for it. Love esther

Are you using the batch render option, and thus not actually opening the file in Carrara?

Hi, no just opening the file in carrara. It just couldn't seem to handle so many poser people in one scene unfortunately. even with all my ram etc. Love esther

Try rendering by starting Carrara, then go right to the render room and render the file with the batch option.  Don't load the file -- as if you were going to work on it.  I've been able to render much larger files by doing this.

Also, on a PC, I will monitor memory usage, and when memory usage gets to ~1.7 Gig, I pause the render, shut down Carrara, restart, and then start the render from the pause point.  This resets the memory usage, and I've been able to render files that consistently crashed when trying to render via the standard render mode.

I'll have to try that. I just had a similar problem the other day. I ended up having to use a simpler set to get it to run. Hate that.

 Thanks!
