Hi everyone,

I'm a Rhino user and starting to render on Carrara 5... do you have any links or useful tips for me..

I render on the Flamingo Rhino render so I am not familiar at all with all other renders..

Thanks for your help and time

Hi Jennifer, Welcome to Carrara! The Carrara renderer is very robust, versatile and fast. Because of that, I'm actually not aware of a a single tutorial that covers all of it's capabilities. My initial advice would be to simply play a little bit and start asking questions if you encounter something that doesn't look right or is hard to figure out. Because the render engine is integrated into Carrara and not a separate program, the textures and texture room is more tightly integrated and very important to the render engine results. Effects like Subsurface Scattering, Translucency, Transparency, Reflection Blurring and Refraction are actually created in the Texture Room and then sent to the Renderer. The Render Room controls fidelity of edges, Global Illumination, Reflected Light, quantity of light rays and light ray behavior. The settings created in the texture room drastically affect final render results. None of this is hard to learn but it does take a little experimentation. I created a Studio Shot tutorial a little while back. I'll post it and provide the link here in just a little bit. Please post back with questions or concerns. Mark
