Subject: Transparency issues with particles need help!!!

I'm trying to make a particle emitter almost completly transparent but the particles turn white instead of see through. I've got the light through tran. turned on and the no light when fully tran. on and also tried it off but it doesnt seem to help. Can anybody post an image of an emitter with trans. particles. I'm trying to do an animated smoke effect.
