It is a big step forward, especially the rendering (C2). That Global Illumination thing everybody raves about is beautifull to use on Poser figures. You should not throw away your old RDS if you buy Carrara if you love to do Boolean stuff. That got worse. I still am sad I actually DID delete the prog, for that reason. Subdivision smoothing is cool. And tons more. You could check the specs at the link. The difference between RDS and Carrara 1.1 was not very big, if I remember correctly. If it were me I would go straight to C2. that is a great price. I think even those that purchased Carrara Studio 1.1 and then upgraded to C2 only saved like another $50 if I recall. Get it while you can at that price. The differences between 1.1 and 2 are many. GI, Caustics, Bones, Subdivision, Better Poser import (well sorta), better OpenGL. If you have a Mac and run OSX then C2 is a must over 1. For OSX it features dual Processor support and much faster OpenGL support then 1.1, it is also more stable then 1.1 in os9 get the 2.1 update though. Regards, Paul

I,m a regular RDS user mostly to work on poser figures. There is an offer to "upgrade" to carrara 1 for $69 and 2 for $199. Is this worth it ? I like to get some advice from someone who knows RDS and Carrara 1&2. I get the impression that carrara has an more modern interface, is a bit faster but offers the same as RDS.
