Subject: Vague about Layers...

I'm building this Flying Boat [tail assembly not yet done] and I want the 'Black Rust' texture wrapped completely around the upper wing [each half of the wing is seperate] but I want the bump map for the ribs on the top side only. This seems to call for 'Layers'. [this will be my first] I find the manual's explanation murky...as is so often the case. Can someone kindly state it in simple English?

Hi Kelly, The best way is become familiar with layers or parametric mapping capabilities is simply to play around with the program on basic shapes. Also, see the more recent post on "Glass Table" which shows a specific application of a layer shape. Hope that this helped a little! Mark

Cool looking shape. One thing I am fuzzy on is defining the different areas. How do you create "Front face 0", "Side face 1", and so on?

When you create a Parametric Mapping option, the faces are created automatically for you for every single, shade-able side. Pretty cool.

OoooOOooh. OK, I'll have to try that. Thanks.
