Subject: Shadow Catcher Reflection Problem

chuckerii ( ) posted Mon, 29 September 2003 at 7:47 PM · edited Tue, 23 June 2026 at 9:18 AM

I have just started to use the Shadow Catcher feature (I know, I'm a late bloomer but I tend to only use features when I need them!) It works great, except I am seeing the Shadow Catcher object reflected in my main object, which is a shiny metal robot! Is there any way to get rid of this reflection other than rotoscoping the background to my robot... and still that wouldn't work completely if I have other objects in the scene that I do want reflected. Any ideas? Thank you.

Chuck

Chuck, Slide the transparency value to 100% and select "no light interaction when fully transparent" at the bottom of the shader tree. BTW, if you haven't already discovered it, the shadow will be the same color as the color of the shadow catcher. For dark shadows, select full black as the color. Mark
