the dreamlight Amongst the smoke of burn barrels and tramps I smell the cigar of Uncle Gramps The glassy eyed walkers with hats a tiltin' shuffling past the flowers wiltin' Aunt Fertyl rocks with fingers a-quiltin' a crack in the mirror with my face a-spiltin' Can't really hear what the radio ladio say-dio but she's talkin' about the day and the night the blanket and the bedbug bite Miss Teddy curls up with the stars so bright painted outside in the dark window night a circus show dances on the lampshade light ... and the cowboys chase the indians ...and cops chase the robbers ...and there's singin' and dancin' every night Uncle Gramps puts the dog out but leaves the hall light on just for me. The dang bulb burns my eyes out whenever I peep out from underneath Can we go fishin' I ask Uncle Gramps says, "Close your eyes and we'll see."
