Entry #3

The idea came from something i came across in second life and wanted to put into words. A night to be remembered About 30 minutes later a thick fog rolled in behind me as a closed in on the town. I looked in the mirrors and I couldn’t see anything almost if nothing was there. I thought nothing of it, I just figure it is going to be a bad night and I would just stay in town till morning. I could barely make out the town up ahead. My car slowly came to a stop just outside the town. It wouldn’t start again so I would have to tough it out and walk to the rest of the way. So I grabbed my flashlight and headed towards the town. Slowly I made my way into town and the thick fog became slightly thinner the closer I got. I came to an archway that had the town name on it. It looked extremely withered and worn from age as if it’s been there for some time. I took a quick glance over my shoulder but the car had vanished within the grey fog, which almost looked like smoke. It seemed a bit darker than it should be but it’s the time of year it gets dark sooner. I reached in my pocket for my cell phone. I was trying to check the time but it was acting as if there was interference of some kind. This town began to give off an eerie feeling that you can’t shack. I walked a short distance before I saw the Inn and lightly jogged over to it. A kind old man greeted me as I entered. I rented a room and was handed a key to an odd numbered room 675. I opened the door to the room and made my way to the bed to take a break. I sat down on the bed while glancing around the room. I noticed a paper on the wall by the phone with a list of numbers. I looked over the list noticing a fixit shop and called it. I gave the details about my car and to leave me a message over at the inn since my cell isn’t working. After I hung up the phone I made my way to the bathroom to splash some water on my face. I noticed a medicine cabinet. I was curious so I opened it to see what was inside. There was a bottle of Luminal and for some reason I decided to put it in my pocket. I made my way down the stairs and out the door. I pulled out my flashlight and walked around looking at all the decorations in town. I came across a little fishing hut with a few buckets and nets lying around outside, it had a pretty strong fish stench. I looked the other way and notice in the distance what looked to be a cop and a few other people chatting, so I made my way towards them. As I got closer I could hear a few things about a dead body that might be Xavier Dalton from the big mansion. I turned around and began to walk the same way I came from to avoid talking to them. I looked around and noticed I was lost. Nothing seemed familiar . . . Suddenly in front of me was a huge gate with the words Bakersfield Cemetery above it. I continued past the cemetery to a bridge I could see in the distance. It was an old covered wooden bridge. It looked really old and worn, so I cautiously walked across it just in case it snapped. To the right there was an old shack that caught my eye. The door was opened reviling a hunched over old woman in the door looking at me. Like she knew I was here it gave me the chills. I could hear her saying if the fog is what brought you here it will keep you here. Her words made my heart slow. I turned left and picked up my pace and before too long there were trees surrounding me. I turned back to look for the witch’s house but it was gone as if it was never there. I felt the chill of the wind as if I was trapped in a locked freezer with cold hands wrapping around me. I continued walking deeper into the forest. A sudden loud noise sent me into a panic making me drop my flashlight and run as fast and far as I could, even deeper into the forest feeling as if they are closing in on me feeling like my heart will jump from my chest. I felt as if someone was behind me, but there was no time to turn to see before all was black. A split moment I felt cold liquid engulf me. I couldn’t hear, couldn’t see or feel. I… I can’t move. The cell phone floated out of my pocket and the screen filled with static. You could make out a slight face and the words Xavier Dalton was here. The phone gave off a loud scream as if it was me screaming before it blacked out and sunk. The scream never to be heard like it was only the wind. Luminal leaked from the other pocket and a light blue glow engulfed my body. In a well hidden deep within the forest hollowed out with echoed screams; is said to lay a boy named Jason Moore once visited the town one day. His body never recovered because no one can find the well hidden in the woods. They say if you see a fog you can’t hide, and sometimes it sounds like the wind is screaming; it’s the body of a person lost forever. It’s also said if the well is found on Halloween night it glows blue and if you look in; you’ll never be heard or seen again. (R.I.P. Jason Moore October 31, 1999) What once was 675, is now 676.
