Les J. House Having discovered how to produce and use hydrogen gas, scientists of the day adapt a balloon onto a rudimentary aircraft. The balloon makes the aircraft light enough so that it can be propelled using human power. Since the gas is costly and difficult to produce, the few machines made are used mostly by royalty and high church officials to travel more quickly.
