2021 Writers Halloween Contest with Sponsors

This year's writers theme is: 2 Sentence Horror Stories

Horror stories don’t need to be long in order to be scary. A good horror idea can always be reduced to its chilling core. Write a story to scare us using just 2 sentences.

Here are some examples of some 2 sentence horror stories:

I'm woken every morning by a dog licking my face. I don't have a dog, I live next to a pet cemetery.

"Your hands are freezing," I say as my husband gets into bed. "Honey, I'm home," I hear from downstairs.

"My four-year-old said he wished that people didn't have to knock. I told him about doorbells, and he asked me to install one on his window."

"My brother and I used to knock on the walls at night because our rooms were next to each other. After he left for college, I still heard the knocking."

General Contest Rules:

All Renderosity members are eligible to enter except for staff.
Winners will be announced on November 18th.
Entries must be new artwork and written work not previously posted online, or anywhere else publicly.
Members may submit entries in all the categories, but there is a maximum of three entries per category.
Entries will be anonymous.
Winner's Announcement will be posted in the Renderosity News Section and this official contest page.

Entry Specifications:

Any style of writing is accepted that comply with this year's Halloween theme, maximum of two sentences.
Image size must be a maximum of 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels in .jpeg or .gif format (72 dpi).
Thumbnail image must be maximum of 300 pixels (wide) x 350 pixels (height) in .jpeg or .gif format (72 dpi). Here is a helpful tutorial on How to make Full Image Thumbnails.
Do NOT use HTML formatting.
Double-space between paragraphs.
Entries of previously winning submissions will not be accepted.
All stories must comply with Renderosity's Terms of Service.
Use the description field to tell us your tale, noting what inspired you.
Include the word count at the end of the story.
No Nudity is allowed on the thumbnail and/or full image.
You cannot sign your real name, nor Renderosity username, on your image or in the description. Any signed images, will not be accepted.
By uploading your image and story, you are agreeing that this is your original work.
Any entry containing violence, blood, brutality or gore that is implied or explicit will be removed.
An entry containing weapons of any kind, or objects to be used as weapons is subject to review for violence.
An entry containing childlike imagery in suggestive poses will be removed.

Community Voting:

The winners will be selected by the community.
All clone votes will be removed.

Additional Information:

All prize winners must supply Renderosity with their real name, email address and mailing address for prize distribution and registration.
