is our vendor of the month for May, 2020. He has been a Renderosity member since 2009. Since joining, TruForm has become a top seller at Renderosity. TruForm has over 600 followers and is going strong.
TruForm specializes in 3D models of architecture, props and transportation. There are nearly 200 items in this talented vendor's store. All of them are beautifully designed and well-constructed. Top sellers include the Total Fit Gym, Classy Apartment, and LaFerrara Car. We particularly like TruForm's Jade Lounge with its wonderful color scheme and exciting design.
TruForm was kind enough to chat with us about their working methods and background. Thank you, TruForm!
Interview with TruForm
Renderosity: Tell us about your background; where do you live and how did you become a vendor at Renderosity?
TruForm: I live in Cape Town, South Africa- also known as the "mother city". Growing up I always had a passion for art, although it was 2D at first. Blender got me started in 3D, of course due to the fact that it was free. It was a combination of that and Daz Studio (which I got with one of those PC magazines that are accompanied by CDs) which got me into wanting to create my own models. Although quite basic at first I kept at it to reach the kind of quality of content that came with Daz (Around the time of Victoria 4 and Michael 4). Renderosity was such a great site for sharing and learning, especially when in chat. My friends there played a major role in encouraging me to become a vendor. Starting with freebies I finally made the jump to sell after the feedback was quite positive!
You have such skill in creating 3D scenes. What is your secret?
TruForm: Thank you! Most of the models I create are based on existing things, so it helps by having a quality goal that I strive to reach. Reality has quite a high mark! Most of the time I struggle on when to stop as the level of detail appears endless! I'm definitely still learning and there's more room to grow. But I appreciate hearing what you think of my progress!
Jade Lounge by TruForm
We really like 'Jade Lounge'. Can you tell us how you created this great scene?
TruForm: I seem to have a 'lounge' colour theme going on where key items in the scene are a particular colour. Since Jade was the goal I kept to a greenish-blue colour scheme while trying to not drown the scene in a monotone- also being sure to keep it homely and making it look like somebody could live there. Looks like I got it right then!
Do you have some favorites among your works?
TruForm: I'm really drawn to nature so you may notice a lot of plants in what I create- especially in an indoor environment. So 'TruForms Jungle' and 'Hotel Lobby' would probably be on top right now.
How has Renderosity made a difference in your life as an artist?
TruForm: I probably wouldn't have pushed to be better at 3D as much as I did if it wasn't for the Renderosity community. The impact it has made is priceless and I'm really grateful to everyone for their input and feedback in helping me improve. Also hoping I passed on some wisdom myself along the way.
Any advice for vendors just starting out?
TruForm: First, be comfortable in the program you plan on using! It's a great start if your program is like a second nature to you. That way your ideas can flow instead of you scratching your head as to how you plan on pulling it off. Then create what you love because that will make sure you put 100% into the project. Also it doesn't hurt to hear what the community is looking for and can be good way to assist in what direction to take.
