Renderosity & Blacksmith3D Have Joined Forces

Renderosity and Blacksmith3D are pleased to announce that the popular texture painting and morph creator software, Blacksmith3D, is now part of the Renderosity family. "Since Renderosity was born out of a web software company, Bondware, we felt that buying Blacksmith3D was a natural fit to our mix of brands," states Jenifer Carey, RPublishing Manager, who will be managing the Blacksmith3D software. "We are excited about how these tools can advance the talents of cg artists."

The Blacksmith3D Software empowers the artists so that they can easily generate high-end visual results while ensuring maximum workflow optimization. The Blacksmith3D product lineup over the last ten years has seen a lot of improvements and growth of users, and we believe we are in a unique position to offer continued product updates and additional technical support deserving of such a great product. In combination with our responsive Support Staff and continued backend support from the previous owner, David Fielder, we believe the software products will only get better. We are planning to develop a new version of Blacksmith3D over the next year. This new version would include, among other things, additional figure support for Blacksmith3D's Texture Transformer. For those of you who have used Blacksmith3D, we hope you will be watching your email over the next couple of months in order to participate in a feedback survey we will be sending out.

"I am extremely excited about Blacksmith3D joining forces with Renderosity! I feel that Renderosity's marketing and customer support capabilities will pump new energy to this great product and help push it to the next level. We all have our strengths, and for me it's software development. This is a great opportunity for me to focus on one simple goal - making Blacksmith3D even more powerful than ever before! I look forward to engaging this year with fresh energy while being backed by a supportive team with one common goal; to provide you with the best 3D texture painting experience possible." - David Fielder, Creator of Blacksmith3D

The flagship product, Blacksmith3D and all other products including Texture Transformer can now be purchased directly in the Renderosity Marketplace. New and existing Blacksmith3D users will now be able to get support through the BLACKSMITH3D FORUM HERE at Renderosity. Emails will be sent when new updates are ready for download, so please make sure you have on your safe sender list.

Stunning Results!

Even though many top vendors in the Poser community use Blacksmith3D, it's value in the 3D world goes beyond just Poser usage. Easily import and export OBJ files from or to any 3d software that supports OBJs. Blacksmith3D is often compared to Zbrush, but it's a fraction of the price. And, Blacksmith3d has superior high resolution "what you see is what you get" texture painting tools. Immediately detect resolution and/or UV issues as you paint.

"For both pros and students, I highly recommend this package. It was simple and intuitive to use Blacksmith3D with no complex hoop-jumping to load and save models or to load and save images. It just worked! Many of these hidden gems do incredible work, but at a fraction of the cost of their brand-name counterparts! This is one of those hidden gems." - Timothy Albee, veteran of Walt Disney Feature Animation

"... In all honesty, I used to use [another software] for texturing as well as modeling, but when I got my hands on Blacksmith-Paint I never looked back, your tuts are fantastic and the interface is very easy to understand so I am happy to praise the software all I can. " - Amy G. Florida, USA

"...the sheer awesomeness of Blacksmith3D is hard to describe. I used to get all shaken and stressed with having to deal with Pfft...I don't even worry about them. I can precisely place tattoos and other details across seams without breaking a sweat. It's the second tool I reach for when I'm starting to build a skin, right after Photoshop which is where I lay the base down." - Laura Haskell

More about this Software

Blacksmith3D is a painting, morphing, and detailing application designed to provide artists and studios with easy to learn tools that generate high-end realistic visual results. Blacksmith3D provides artists with tools for seamless 3D painting, complex compositions, and precise detailing so they have the freedom to focus in creating really great art!

The software was created in such way that it easily fits into an existing pipeline by supporting .obj files for imports and exports. In the latest version, the Projection Painting tool has been added that enables simple integration with your existing favorite 2D painting application with only a few clicks. Simply capture a specific angle of your model in Blacksmith3D - make adjustments in any 2D painting applications, then instantly paint the changes back into Blacksmith3D, even across UV seams and material/map boundaries.

With Blacksmith3D Version 5 - even greater depth and detail can be achieved via virtually unlimited resolution painting and high resolution displacement and bump map painting. These tools are only limited by your system’s RAM and not by your GPU RAM. These new additions allow for HD textures where you can really zoom in and achieve precision detail. With high resolution displacement maps you can paint across seams and see your results in real time. Adjust strength and direction as you paint, and preview immediately to see the results. After every brush stroke, what you see is what you get. Easily output the maps instantly to integrate with your rendering application as often as you like.

* Easy to learn and use.

* Create immensely high resolution and detailed textures with 64 bit support.

* Streamlines production, simple software integration.

* Designed to optimize workflow.

* Affordable for large and small studios.

* Professional, high-end visual results.

Great news Dave - I'm glad you can focus on the software now, and not have to split your time between development and keeping the website and other things going. Good Luck!

Does anyone know how this compares with N-Sided Software's Quidam and Argile programs?

Wonderful news, congrats to both Dave and Renderosity. As an owner of Texture Transformer I can tell you that it's so easy to use as to become addictive :) Good luck to you all !

Thalek--I have both Argile and Blacksmith---there's no comparison. Blacksmith is ten times the program Argile is. It seriously made my life much easier.

Great software that I regularly use. Just needs one thing in my humble opinion to be perfect! I wish it had support for 3D Connexion Space Navigator!

WOW, how did I miss this announcement? What a great merger. Hopefully Dave will now put more energy into developing rather than worrying about marketing and all that other stuff. Congrats to both partners!

The tutorials link isn't working (404). I'd like more tutorials please! Especially ones that show how to adapt DAZ Genesis & M4/V4 figures. Anyone considering developing a collection of video tutorials that are comprehensive and in depth? If they were good enough I'd be prepared to buy them.
