Bethany is standing in a slightly modified Natarajasana pose. I have read that such a stance is good for strengthening the ankles and legs plus improves balance and focus. This Poser rendering is a tribute to Barb, aka. goldie. I have been a follower of Barb's work for years and years. Barb's gallery is filled with some of the most inspiring artwork I have encountered at this site. There has and is many a time that I have spontaneously scribed a short story to accompany one of her renderings - two just today as a matter of fact. She also says some very nice things about my work which is always much appreciated. Thank you very much Barb for all your kind comments and I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Cheers!
This is another 'white room' rendering much like 'Veronica And Betty'. This time, the room is a giant whitish cylinder (in Poser Primitives props) as opposed to a box - specular colour set to zero. As before the group normals are reversed using the Grouping Tool. The (unseen) top of the cylinder is tinted sky blue for the benefit of the indirect lighting which manifests in the subtle colour shades on the floor. If you are going to use the 'Smooth Polygons' option in the Render Settings, then the 'Smooth Polygons' option must be turned off for the standard Poser cylinder itself - in the object properties - otherwise the seams separate during the rendering. I lowered the cylinder's shading rate to 0.1 at the same time though, since it is mostly the same colour, I doubt this made a big difference. I have managed to clean up the dark smudges from my previous effort by ensuring the GROUND plane is completely invisible - turn off all options like 'visible', 'visible in raytrace', etc. in the object properties. Even in shadow catcher mode, this object 'reflected' the dark blotches onto the character's faces and made them 'dirty girls'. As for other options, most save for shadow strength are the same as the last outing.
  • Minimum shading rate was set to 0.02.
  • Ray-trace bounces has to be six (6) or greater.
  • Indirect lighting quality has to be very high - at or above eighty (80).
  • But shadows can now be set stronger - 0.7 in this case.
I was going to flag for nudity but I am told that not wearing gloves does not qualify. Much more of Bethany's body (no just her head, neck and wrists) had to be set to a smaller shading rate, 0.02 - including all the joints in her left hand. I did the same for all parts of her leotard to sharpen the patterning and make it look more clingy. Really, it is a shame that there isn't a way (that I have noticed) to set a default minimum shading rate for any or all objects at once.

OK... I need to stop watching Star Wars stuff for a while.... I thought the title said something else... Bethany certainly looks lovely as well as well-balanced here. She's far more flexible than I...

OK - time out... You went inside the cylinder? OK, note to self: New thing to try. In all these years I never thought about doing that. That's why I love this place - always something to be inspired by. And an IDL quality of 80? Wow - how long did it take to render this?

Yes, the Poser cylinder primitive prop is scaled to 4800% and the Bethany character and camera are placed inside it. And that is important too, both the camera and the character must be within the room.

The cylinder prop does not have "two sided" walls. When first loaded into a scene, the walls are rendered when the camera is outside but not when the camera is inside. The Grouping Tool is used to reverse the group normals of the entire cylinder prop. Essentially making the exterior walls, interior walls and making them visible in the render.

It is also important to make sure that the cylinder does not cast shadows itself. And, as I mentioned, the GROUND prop is completely turned off.

Since this rendering was very minimalist in content, could afford to ratchet up the quality of the indirect lighting. If memory serves a render at full size took about four (4) hours.
