Description
I was inspired by (of all things!) the art we saw in hotels and other public spaces when we travel. There seem to be a lot of artists who are using divided space color blocks, with a little something over the top. Of course by the time I finished putting all the "little somethings" over the top it wasn't anything like what I was thinking of, but that's sort of the story of art, isn't it? LOL!

I know this pleases my eye. The softness and color here make this one I would hang on my wall. Between the raccoons of course!

Masterly, Tara! I do like this, and it is special because you made it. I had a friend who was commissioned to produce paintings at speed to sell in cheap outlets. He had phone calls such as "Please send 12 more red ones with a few less houses in the background." He was a senior art lecturer, director of a local museum, and a talented painter, but he had a lot of children and a yacht !

ANdrea summed up the factory-line nature of hotel-art perfectly! Exactly: "We want 10 more with reds..." That's how they happen. Art choices as commodities. The real world...But Tara, you didn't expect to wind up with anything other than a Tara vision, did you, lol? This is another of your marvelous blends, with a letter in the background (more from your passed relatives?), a list of dates---it's almost like a shopping list in some parts. And a simple facade, like some of those old western country church facades. And one of the windows has texture and hue in them. And a low moon---very Japanese, against those bare branches---and those bare branches give a bony articulation to your broad swaths here. (Fine contrast in textures.) And planes of blue and red and yellow, etc, and bluffs of cliffs piled behind each other. You've made a dream image, yet it's very clear. And the blue on the far right is a perfect foil to the deep rust reds next to it. You've made planes alright, but they're softened by all the mystery within them. Beautiful work. I love when you do these, and I hope you do more...
This has such a wonderful, surreal feel to it, Tara. It's almost like you are reaching through another dimension and melding it with ours. Most delightful!

OHHH! This is awesome. Wonderful colors and the moving moon patrolling over the city as a night guardian. Love the tree and the text in another layer. This is so beautiful, Tara :-) Love it.
