Description
Wilton windmill was built in 1821 as a five floor brick tower mill with round house. The need for a windmill was felt because the Kennet and Avon Canal had canalised the waters of the River Bedwyn thereby taking away the power needed to drive several water mills in the vicinity of Bedwyn. At one time there were over 400 such mills in the county before this time and now this is the last one here or in any of the surrounding counties.
Thanks for taking time to look and any comments you care to make

Ciao Danny ! Superb this old windmill and it has been perfectly restored. It's a pity that they have disapeared of our landscapes. They are beautiful, majestics and in perfect harmony with the Nature. This one is very particular, different that the one I've seen in France. Great remind of the past, and maybe of the future too... Have a nice week-end my friend. Hugs. Nathalie
This is seriously cool...the way the wind is out here we sure could make use of one of them!!! -jay
