Description
If you find dragonflies to difficult to photograph, you might do some practicing on damsels. Most damsel species are "easyer" to approach and they usually only fly a short distance away if disturbed. Often there are dozens around so there is much more opportunity to improve your skills. People keep asking me what camera I use? I find that a difficult question. Maybe they want to buy the same camera as me and will be dissappointed afterwards. It has to do with what type of photographer you are. I never use a statif, want to grab any opportunity to make shots from landscape to macro. Walk-abouts often last several hours or even a whole day when on holidays. Therefore I don't want to drag some heavy equipment around! So in my case the solution is a semi digital slr with at least 8x zoom. You can buy these camera's starting with 250 $/euro for a 5mpix to a mere 700 $/euro for an high-end-prosumer. Several of these camera's even come with vibration reduction or image stabilisation for shaky hands!
Next time more about zoomcamera's versus digital slr's with dedicated lenses.

she is a real beauty-a damsel not in distress!!excellent macro my friend!!!
great work, guru. it really makes you feel like your part of the small insect world.
I have a digital now that has the anti shake which I have to have with digital because my very first digital didn't have that and I shake too much and it discouraged me from digitals. The macro shots are better with this digital than my Canon Rebel G-2 but that's because I'm still trying to learn to use the filters. I have Rh. Arthritis and can't walk for an entire day but have certainly been out for a couple of hours. You are so talented but humble indeed! We (at least I) am not so disillusioned to think if I buy the same camera you bought I would take the same level of pictures. Even w/digitals you have to learn (boy do I know this) about speed ect and lighting...as you said...it's mostly the photographer and some the camera. Please continue to share your lessons with us!
Wow.. beautiful capture... I can see why you go for the pretty girls...s
beautiful and elegant love the sensuousness as the damsel just sits on the leaf.. beautiful play of light. and excellent quality.. at the end of te day its down to the eye of the photographer and skill, and most important the heart and understanding of te subject..:)...)) beautiful p'graphy

I'm working on my macros. You'll be seeing some new ones at photo-genesis's site. :-D I got some good shots of some ants... without shake!!! You'll have to see them when they are loaded up. Excellent shot! Very cool I will have to try it sometime!

A good camera helps...but without an artistic eye and the knowledge on how to use the equipment you have, it won't do you much good...you obviously have both...great shot, love the lighting. Always a pleasure to view your work.
Wow, what a beautiful shot that is!!! Sooooo perfect in every way. Love how its surrounded by that darker background, truly amazing light. Crisp and clear indeed! Have a great day #:O)

I like this answer... These are the words of wisdom. Sincerely, what you wrote there really made my day. It means that any of us can have the hope to obtain the same results (about the same). Just need to practise and to follow your advices. No need to save money during half a year to buy ruinous equipment. Cool! Really cool! (is it worth commenting the shot?, of course, gorgeous as always...)
