Description
Common Name Grey Pansy
Precis atlites
Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae
Range: India to Malaysia to Celebes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Food: Plants in the acanthus family
Notes: Watch where you step! These butterflies camouflage well on pathways as they seek moisture. Pansies are most numerous in species on the continents of Africa and Asia. The small ring-like eyespots lure predators to strike away from vital body parts. A piece of wing might be broken off but the butterfly will live and reproduce for another day.
As always thanks for taking time to look and any comments
