Taken in Baytown, Texas in April 2005, The background is blurred purposely to show the sense of speed. I was panning with the car and the image is uncropped. These cars run the quarter mile in about 4.7 seconds going as fast as 333 mph. They go from 0 to 100 mph in 8/10 of a second. He is probably going well over 200 mph in this picture. Your eyeballs vibrate when the go by.... unbelievable!

Very cool! I love funny cars!
I've been a fan for 25 years here in the UK love to come to the states to ameeting one day. Great photo.
I have been to Baytown more times than I care for, as I lived in Houston before. excellent capture and the dragstrip must be fairly new? of course it was 1982 when I left for less smog up north in Dallas
Man, I'm enjoying these shots! It must take some practice to pan with one of these!
You caught him. To think in the middle 50's there were learned arguments that a car could not go over 155mph in the 1/4 mile because all it had was it's weight to create friction and with a coefficient of 1 well...horsepower is not everything, there were new slicks instead of recaps and bleachboxes to make them adhesive in smokey burnouts. Somewhere, somehow, somebody did something.
Perfect Catch, panning is an art in itself, well done:):):):):)
