Description
There's is a small possibility that I might have gone a wee bit overboard in modeling all these books. But, they were fun to model so here they are. :o) This environment was created specifically for the animation project of a friend.
Less than 3,000 volumes because I wanted to allow gaps for slanted books, the odd bust of Beethoven here and there and a few vases and collectibles from all over. I still need to design and model the rolling ladder, but that can come later on.

Sweeet, Moe. Even untextured this looks really cool. As I've said before I do have a thing for the Victorian era, have you ever thought of doing some commercial Victorian architecture kits that you can mix and match? Please....
brings back memories when i was doing my library-scene :) looks very good! cant wait to see the finished work! -- from an animation stand-point i have to tell you its going to be a hell of a render-time with all those books modeled (personal experience from my own project) but on the other hand - it looks soooo real even untextured .. great work as always M! :) peace //Benny.

Looks like you need some lighting too, Moe :-) Maybe a modest chandelier or some gaslights on the walls? Is that a fireplace over on the right? Ahh! All we need now is a big leather armchair, a pipe, some carpet slippers and a globe with lots of pink countries.
Ultra cool work mate, thenagain I expect nothing less, and knowing you as I do, I'll bet every book has hundreds of pages, all with every page from every classic novel scanned in. Great work my friend

Wow. that's all that I can say. I'm a big fan of procedural complexity-- did you explore any script based way of getting all those volumes on the shelves? They're a kind of greeble. . . or is that nurnie-- I never get that right. You might look at some period rooms for the ceiling. . .that recessed style looks more modern than Victorian to me. . .two interesting possibilities: a coffered ceiling, which was common. And also a ceiling with pressed tin. . .not sure if it would have been found in a library, though. Oh, yes, fancier bevels and scrollwork on the moldings. . .that's what I forgot. Very Victorian. . .Here's a reference to "Egg and Dart" style molding-- its an easy way to add a lot of period detail with only a little more work! http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/pages/w00032.asp

Its great to see how you are working this out. Your modelling is always exemplary. But isnt it a problem for you, if you are starting with texturing too late?

Awesome. I didn't know you did Victorian. I'm gonna need some Victorian props for 'The Janus Legacy' which is part two of Grimm. Are you going to market this stuff?
