Description
The 1946 tsunami, generated in the Aleutians, produced 30 foot (10 m) waves at Laupahoehoe. The waves completely overran the peninsula. Statewide, 159 people were killed, 21 of them at Laupahoehoe. Today a beautiful park is located in this area, and the calmness shown in this image can quickly turn to disaster in minutes. Thank goodness for our early warning Tsunami buoys located miles off shore.
Many thanks for your comments on my previous posts and have a great week everyone! Aloha~
