Story of My Life...I have often ended up with the wrong Species....and wrong Gender even...a fine Macro...love the Harlequin Mask....woof

The big guy is a fire bug(Pyrrhocoris apterus) It has been known to attack other insects (see : http://www.geocities.com/pelionature/Pyrrhocoris.htm) sorry to destroy the kiss story... French names are : Gendarme, Suisse ! :~) German name : Die Feuerwanze . I was trying to capture these bugs some weeks ago (when in the Cevennes) but my macro technique was not yet "at R'osity level"... ;-) Very nice photography, Monika! :~)

very cool shot!!! same colors but different :] ahhhh... hope this isn't a stand off!, like to think of them as kissing :]

Thank you Michel for telling so exactly... indeed I had forgotten to mention the name of that bug... you're right we Germans call it "Feuerwanze". I know about those bugs... but hey, I liked that romantic idea more... hehe

This is awesoem my friend!! Excellent capture and I love the colors here!! vote

Delicious. When I was a child, in spanish, we called 'zapatero' to the one in the top and 'coquita' to the other. They were everywhere; now, there are years I don't see anyone of them!

Amazing shot!! Love this.

Awesome photo. Beautifully clear and sharp. Unbelivable pattern on bugs back. Tks Monika :)

The big mistake ;) Hilarious moment, great shot. Thanks for the smile!

Dear Monika, I hope it's just a "kiss!" Bugs have some rather strange ways about them - hope one isn't about to be lunch! I'm not sure what the newcomer is - I don't even really recognize the carapice shape. Very unusual! Terrific macro work and a cute image (I hope!) Excellent work!! Love, Meredith

Beautiful, excellent, ficitations Monika !!! Vote

This piece is just a stunner! It is so rich in color and so extremely clear. They are both very beautiful. And I agree I liked the romantic story better, but hey life is life (and death if that was the case). Truly beautiful.

Cool capture...ugly bugs ;-)

Das ist ja wieder kaum zu glauben, was Du da im richtigen Moment aufgenommen hast. Sieht wirklich fantstisch aus, von den Objekten her und auch die Farben. Ganz super gemacht!

Totally super cool. I wonder if it stoppes with a kiss :-) Almost surreal feeling to it, wonderful!!
