Description

3rd time is the charm. Two uploads failed for whatever reason. This building, when we last saw it in 1996, was a mess. The entire industrial area here, Canton, was a mess. The contrast was the very nice residential sections across the street. If "Forgotten Country" was about unused, demolished buildings, "Recycled Country" has to be about buildings getting a new lease on life. The Can Company now houses an Outback Steakhouse in the ground floor, and I will bet dollars to donuts that the upper floors have been remodeled for new office space or even upscale apartments. Regardless, this section of town is retaining its natural charm and not being turned into glass and steel boxes. Way to go! Let's poke around a bit more. Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

The Undercover Censor may have been Inspecting the Thumb. A fine Cannery.

Dear TW, it is nice to see the old building given a new lease on life. I wonder if the upper floor could be lofts? Kind of got that look about them. There are several all out industrial building near downtown Houston that were in terrible shape and are now VERY upscale loft type condos. Maybe they can reinvigorate the place! This one looks like a real asset to the area!! Excellent work!! Love, Meredith

Hmmmmmm. May want to wait until we get to some real seafood places. In town that means: Steamed, spiced (*****) crabs 'n' ice cold beer. That or, ewwww, oysters on the half-shell! (never could see the point to that!)
