Description
Most people think of the social bees, swarms of honey bees, or gangs of bumblebees when they think of bees. In fact the vast majority of bees are solitary, living out their lives as single bees, provisioning single nest cells, rather than working with many other bees to raise huge numbers of offspring in shared nests.
I took this photo today in my garden. I have a small nesting site there especially made for this kind of bees. I think they are quite interesting and believe me or not.. I have never been stinged.

As long as you are no threat to them they won't sting you usually.... Fantastic to capture them so closely!

Look at him looking at you. Makes me rethink swatting them to death ... I shot a closeup of a big spider crawling in my livingroom .. when I loaded it on my computer, I couldn't believe it; but it had eyes and they were looking up at me. Full of expression and everything; I couldn't squash him.

Gorgeous shot here, and your so right about them not stinging !! Most people are afraid of them as a kind of reflex, but as long as your dont bother them (and you REALLY have to bother them lol) they wont sting. In fact they die if they sting you.... Superb work here !! :o)
