Description
Delft is one of the oldest Dutch cities. It has had an important role in Dutch history. William the Silent, who had an important role in leading our country to freedom, stayed here many times. He was assasinated in 1584 here in Delft. William the Silent was barried in Delft and many members of the Dutch Royal Family followed in the years to come.
Many important Dutch painters lived here. One of the most famous was Johannes Vermeer. His art work is spread all over the world.
This photo is taken today (April 2, 2005). I am standing backwards to the Nieuwe Kerk, the barrial place of the Dutch Royal Family.

Beautiful framed photo! Haalde hier mijn rijbewijs.
