Description
This is a saguaro cactus and the oldest and largest specimens can reach 30 feet (~9 meters) tall. Than can live well over a hundred years and weigh a tonne or more. This is an old one. The holes in the plant are made by birds; to avoid snakes and other predators they make their homes there. The mountain(s) in the background are called the Superstitions and there are many legends concerning them.
By the way, it is pronounced Sah-War-Oh :-)

My guess is that you were up and about very early in the morning when you took this image. The colour of the sky is still very cold. I really like the area that you are exploring, wish I could be there too. Nice going my friend. V
