I'm not familiar with the book, yet I feel compelled to say that this is a very impressive work. Any Susan Sedon Boulet influence?

Welcome back syyd! Great image you do great work.
It's obvious that there is no infection there. Haha ;~) Great pic Syyd. It does a good job in conveying the feelings of the book. Well done!
I adore it, you know I adore everything you make but now you blew me away!
Your artistic imagination is so unique!! It's absolute eye candy to view your new creations. This is excellent Syyd, thanks for a breath of fresh air :)
Auh. You've returned - and with a head full of dreams, I see. :) I really like the colour palette on this. There is so much that my eyes wish to interpret here. The texture combined with the colours reminds me very much of the delicate colours of Spring's birth and earth, as if the body itself is terrain, or without true flesh, perhaps inner terrain of the soul. The bright haloed and blurred light about the head - brilliant dreams. And I'm ever so curious about firgure just off of the right shoulder. I see it as ancient spirit or shape shifter holding a bit of bone, acting as both witness & influencer to the dreamer. Whatever is it, it is where my eyes seem to want to return to the most whilst viewing. I'm glad you're posting again - I adore the journeys you take me on...
Yep, the sweet lady is back...... and how!!! What a spooky, dark, but amazing and fantastic image, sweetheart! God, you're good. hugs Johnnie...
Wicked no question about it! You never know what comes next from you. Sorry I am not really wordy person to leave long comments, but know that I appreciate what I see here. Imagination is the greatest gift of all!
those eyes are haunting!! What and imaginative piece of art. :)
Great to see you back Syyd....and with a truly amazing work of art :)
Wow, like everyone said. Great amorphous space to venture back and forth and get lost in. All of that helped by the painterly aspect. Definitely intrigued to see what's in that mirror. But dare I look to closely? lol
Fantastically gruesome book, and just plain fantastic render s
Wonderful - the eyes are so real... I don't think I'd want him catching any of my dreams! Great work Syyd.
Great and fantastic work Syyd!!, it impresses me the style in which is carried out, something in a different style, it is very original, the forms and textures have an incredible work (of many hours without a doubt), although I don't know the argument of the book that you mention, for the elements that you had used, symbolic some of them makes me suppose that it is a mystery story and death, those eyes with their penetrating look tell it to me. Welcome again to Renderosity!!!..
Nice to see the finished piece, Sydd. I love the play of light throughout. I think I'll put this on my desktop and treasure it for a while. You've made me very happy by using my tentacle in such a cool way.
Really beautiful, disturbing and evocative
