Description

Back on the main street of Altmonte, Ontario. A good look at the double porch/balconies which seem to be common around Ottawa. Can't say I've ever seen this architectural feature elsewhere. The sky was about the same color as the snow on the roofs, so I had to do something. Otherwise it looked as if that pediment on the top of the building was freestanding for no reason and looked just plain 'O D D.' I masked the sky and applied a very low setting of the Pointillism filter to pick out just a wee smidgen of color. It now looks like a very heavy leaden, snow-laden sky -- which it was. However, now you can see it. A little 3D filter applied to the balcony railings just to bring them out. Usual sharpen, etc. applied before all the above. Then a very light mask around the entire image to soften the edges. That concluded our PP9 modifictions. Now over to some other 'freeware' that came with a scanner (JEEEZE how many of these things can one collect with peripheral equipment???). This one has a very subtle 'soften edge' filter which I like and allows the addition of a user-specified border (10 pixels here) to make the image look more like a shop-produced photograph. OK. That would be fine here. We do that and then call it quits. Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

(BTW: Guest appearance by Mrs. Weesel in front of the Nordic Star.) I liked the effect of the washed out white frame... it suggests snow drifts against the bottoms of the cars.
