One more try with 3D clouds - I'm not too thrilled with the water / land in the foreground.

Yes, the upper half of the image is superb, but I agree that the water's edges are too geometric. Love the colors! The foreground texture is fantastic!
I see what you mean, the water looks like its sitting a meter or so higher than the land. This is because the water is a smooth surface and the land is heavily textured (excellently textured, I might add). On any visual surface, even a monitor screen, the eye sees smooth textures seeming to float above rougher textures. Abstract artists used this techinique quite often to get depth in their paintings (eg. Jack Bush - no relation). The solution would be some transparency around the edges of the water (unless the land drops off very steeply and won't respond to the transparency). That's one killer sky, BTW.
The sky is extraordinary - looks like a painting. The red colours are gigantic. O.K., the rest of the image is maybe not your best result. But it doesnt matter. Your gallery shows the real "Terragen Classics".

I agree with bost, "transparency", other than such a minor thing, it is excellent and I really love the sky!

Well Richard this is more than a try with the clouds....They are just superb ! The colors are awesome and the mood set is excellent ! The land in the foreground does look a little metallic and these are some of the surprises that come with a render I guess ! What I sometimes do is just cut (crop) out what I don't like sometimes. It gives bizarre image sizes but often well received. You have still acheived excellent work !
Paul says it all. A true artist is never satisfied; this is why he (or she) will always be trying to do better. This picture is superb. I am sure Rich that you have learned something in this process. Excellent work.
