Description
Named "The Desert Fox" for his audacious surprize attacks, Erwin Rommel led his famed Afrika Korps to early successes against the allies in the North Africa Campaign. Short of petrol, his troops exhausted, his request to withdraw his forces was refused and he was soon defeated in the Battles of El Alamein.

Nice image! I was a huge fan of WWII history as a boy! Rommel was fun to read about. He was a brilliant tactician, and as you elude to, his decisions were overridden by that infamous madman! Rommel cared deeply about his troops, and did not send them into battle without carefully weighing the odds. It should be remembered that he was also a key conspirator in a (Unfortunately) botched attempt to assasinate that infamous madman. Rommel was a good man, and a good soldier. He was unfortunate to serve somone so evil and insane. Great image!! Really has that morning, sneak-attack feel/mood!
Yikes! I would not want to look out my window and see this going by! Love the texyuting, grass, atmosphere and sense of scale. Well done, Ken!!

Ohh Woww!! Are you sure this is not a photo? Amazing Work!!!
oh here a new fantastic shot Ken !!! just one question ? what are these tanks ? it seemed to be king tiger ... or tiger i'm not sure there was in 1942 in service in afrika . that dont change what i think : its a lovely picture dom
What a change Ken! But a superb twist for me, Im a fanatic about WWII, specially in armaments. Those Panzers are genially integrated into the landscape, the heat of the sand is almost visible. Very well done! BRAVO!
I am also impassioned by the WWII.... beautiful image.
Well done, Ken...looks so hot and dusty, like I imagine it was. They must have really cooked inside those tanks!
Fantastic, Ken! I can just feel the heat rising up from that ground!!!

fantastic realism. excellent done,Ken. !!!!!!! #:O) !!!!!!!!!!!
Most excellent ! I agree with Idom77,.....I don't believe there were any Konigs Tigers in service in the North African theater in 1942, mostly Panzer II and III's. Still, very well done !
Fantastic atmosphere and ground texturing. Great image.
Yes! This remember me Rommel (Le Renard du Dert). After participating in the complot to kill Hitler, he has to killed himself.
Wow Ken it looks like a photo! Outstanding work!
This is where my grandfather was in this war, they also were defeated and and all ran away. It has a lot of thought for me, but I like your work, it is very real as always. Eccelent! Lina
Reminds me of another desert conflict.
I saw a special just two nights ago about the history of WWII, and this is incredibly powerful image after it...
Wow Ken - i am a little late but that is only my fault. Excellent one. Different! But again, excellent. So realistic - and so well set up with proportions!
