Most welcome. Well, since this is the end of our first year here, this is a first for us as well. Not sure I'd want to have to eat them, but this is probably the secret ingredient to Nortwest Salad at the Yakama Reservation in Washington. I remember it did not taste bad, but not sure what it was. ;-)

Being a cactus expert here in Tucson, I know they pick the fruit from the prickly pear cactus and make a very yummy jelly with it! I'm not sure how the actually plant would taste though - ugh! They say most cactus are pretty bitter but a good source of fluid if you're dying in the desert! Pretty photo!

The fruit of this plant is called Indian Fidge, it's not bad at all, but it has too many hard and small seeds inside like the usual fidge from fidge trees. It's been a long time since I ate one of these. There are some of these cactus here in Portugal.
