A closer look at some of the details around the doorway under the portico. We can see that the lower floor window grillwork is quite a bit different from that of the upper floor (featured later). The stairs are flanked by a pair of funerary urns; the top of the nearer one is just visible. There is a statue on the stairs which my eyes are having trouble making out. Sometimes it looks like a 'Sacred Heart'; other times it seems to be something with an Egyptian motif: pharoah or so. A bench seems to be behind this statue, but there is also something odd about it -- resembles an altar. Above that is a plaque on the wall which is just unreadable, but it certainly looks like a memorial tablet similar to those found in many old churches. I find myself wondering if this is something to do with mason lodges or similar societies. Anyone out there able to chime in on that angle? Ejnoy; thanks for viewing.
