This Aircraft is a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress named 'Sentimental Journey' from the Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing. This B-17 travels from Airshow to Airshow across the country and to many airports for anything from static display to flight demos and even rides for about $400. The top speed of a B-17 is about 300mph, and in World War 2 it could carry 8,000 lbs. of bombs to a target deep in Germany. Typically there were 10 crewmen... Pilot, Co-Pilot, (2) Waist Gunners, Tail Gunner, Bombardier , Navigator, Radioman, Top Turret, and Belly Gunner. Cost was about $276,000 in 1944... compare that to the $2 Billion B-2 Stealth Bombers. After World War 2, B-17s were sold to civilian buyers, some for as low as $500. Now-a-days, a fully restored and flying B-17 can fetch anything from $2-3 Million!
This images was taken with a Canon Rebel EOS 300D (6 Megapixel D-SLR) with a Canon 75-300mm IS USM F4.9 lens.
