Description
Here is where a lot of North American history was settled, sort of, in 1756 IIRC. I always thought the name was biblical. Turns out it was the name of a local farmer. Oh well.
The British army under General Wolfe by-passed the citadel and landed upstream from the walled city. General Montcalm, for reasons I don't think anyone understands, decided to come out. Within minutes, both generals were dead or dying and the British were following the French into the city to occupy it. A few months later, the same scenario, in reverse, very nearly played out.
IIRC, our tour guide during the carriage ride said that the plains now are an underground reservoir and the surface is a popular rendezvous for close action of another sort during the summer months. I'm assuming this is a reference to the soccer games I witnessed.
Let's look around the citadel and its surrouds.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
