Description
i spent basically ALL of today rendering different versions of this, and i was REALLY pissed off when i lost a high-detail render when GTA crashed my computer, but i guess i deserve that for giving lightwave almost half my ram and playing games on top of that while it renders heheh
this is really a 1280 x 1024 render which took nearly 5 hours, but i scaled it down for you :)
i'm fully open to suggestions on how to improve the 'flower'. it feels to me like it's the only unimproved thing left
hmmm, and i just noticed that saslite didn't render on the camel thing. no idea why it didn't...
comments and suggestions on the overall image are also very welcome and actually needed.
thanks for looking :)

Cool desert storm type picture :)))))
I really like the plant, but maybe you could make it so it is blooming? That is if you're looking to improve it, or a puff of something coming out of it hehe that way it would blend in with the desert storm :)
Great work though, you're doing a wonderful job :) I can't wait to get my special version hehe :)
Oh oh oh! I know! put a baby camel at the plant :)
Nice improvements. The shadow from the plant is really good. I like how a few blads of grass in it have sunlight hitting their tips, it adds a nice touch of realism. The sand storm is cool as well. What happened to the camels fur? Is it just hidden by the dust, or is it not there? Keep at it Bro, this stuff is getting better and better.
The terrain is looking better, but those pyramids need alot of work. I'd suggest loading up a paint program and creating an image map for them, or do the detail work with brushes(polygons). The lightwave preset textures just don't cut it for anything but previews.
Something about SasLite and HV's that just doesn't seem to work out when rendering. I've had this problem before and had to decide which one was more important... couldn't solve it, in the end I dumped the SasLite over the HV's. This is tremendously improved, but I agree with CdGGambit's comment on the textures, you'd do a lot better with creating your own custom texture for the pyramids. Looking forward to your final image. :o)
it is a nice start..I'd use an image map for the briks on the piramids, seek the net for some good texture of big stones and use a cubic projection..the sand color looks quite good, try to add another procedural layer, make the procedural very little in size like the bump made by single sand granules.. in the flower you can add leafs and petals, make it rounder..experiment with modeler, dont give up.. you can learn a lot in a scene like this!!
