Sneakers slicked on the pavement;
Hoods entombed hair in all manner of bright yellow dark black chocolate brown colors;
People fell to the ash-gray cement and came up yelling;
Children ran amok, splashing fierce-cold water on the grownups;
Cars slippery-slided on the soaking flooding highway;
They set out black pans and white microwave-safe pots to catch the falling drops as they invaded the roof;
Miserably people huddled under soggy newspapers and brightly colored umbrellas;
It was raining.
